Biographical Notes:

For over a decade in private practice, Robbie Barr tried complex civil cases, developing special expertise in commercial torts, real estate litigation, professional malpractice, construction disputes and all types of contractual claims.
In 1990, she became a Circuit Judge in Dade County, a court of general jurisdiction with the nation s third largest trial docket. She served in the dependency and in the criminal division, where she became the Associate Administrative Judge, before leaving to serve in the civil division. In addition to her civil docket, Barr was handling 2,300 asbestos cases, which resulted in a 95% settlement rate.
Since joining JAG in 1997, Barr has had the opportunity to utilize her extensive trial experience in resolving complex commercial cases including construction, environmental, employment and professional malpractice claims.
Education:

After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Newcomb College of Tulane University, Ms. Barr received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review.

Barr served by appointment on the Florida Bar Association s Judicial Administration, Selection and Tenure Committee and actively participated in the Eugene P. Spellman Inn of Court. She attended and continues to teach at national and regional programs of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. She has also taught both pretrial and trial skills as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami Law School. She frequently makes presentations at local law schools and bar associations.
Her colleagues chose her to chair the Education Section of the Conference of Circuit Judges, which provides biannual continuing education for Florida s 450 Circuit Judges. A faculty member of Florida s New Judges College as well as the College of Advanced Judicial Studies, Robbie Barr was selected by the Florida Chief Justice to serve on the Court Education Council. In addition, Barr served as an appellate judge both in the Circuit Court s Appellate Division and by invitation as an Associate Judge in the District Court of Appeal. She is a member of both the Colorado Bar and the Florida Bar.
