Biographical Notes:

Former Boulder County Judge Virginia Chavez joined the staff of JAG arbiters in 1998. She was appointed to bench in 1987, following a legal career as a Staff Attorney for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, a District Attorney in Boulder, Colorado, and a personal injury and criminal defense attorney in private practice. After leaving the bench, Chavez received formal training and practiced as a private mediator before joining JAG.

Chavez has been active in the legal and civic communities in Boulder County. She currently serves Boulder Emergency Squad. Her past board memberships include the Boulder County Bar, where she is a past president, Boulder County Paramedics, and Boulder County Mental health where she is a past president and worked with the Executive Medical Director to destigmatize mental illness. She has presented a few times to the CTLA, to the Boulder County Bar/Boulder Medical Association, and to the State ADR convention.
